§ Mr. Howeasked the Minister of Labour whether he will publish in the 317W OFFICIAL REPORT a table which sets out the statutes whose enforcement or operation falls within the responsibility of his Department or of local or other public authorities under the guidance or surveillance of his Department and which provide for the licensing, registration or inspection of persons, premises or institutions of a particular kind, identifying in each case the authorities or persons by

The Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children Act, 1920 Ministry of Labour (Factory Inspectorate)—as regards factories. 3. Hours of Employment (Conventions) Act, 1936 Ministry of Labour (Factory Inspectorate)—as regards factories. 4. Road Haulage Wages Act, 1938 Ministry of Labour (Wages Inspectorate). 5. Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1938 Ministry of Labour (Factory Inspectorate)—as regards railway and certain other employments covered by Section 3(2). 6. (c) Local authorities—as regards other premises covered by the Act (except those forming part of a mine or quarry). I am satisfied that, in general, enforcement is effective. The implementation of the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act is, however, still in its early stages.
