§ Mr. Mathewasked the Postmaster-General if he will issue directions, under the appropriate provisions, to the British Broadcasting Corporation and the Independent Television Authority to ensure that the reports of traffic and other fatal accidents are not broadcast, either on television or sound, in such a way that the victims can be identified, before the next of kin have been notified.
§ Mr. BennThe broadcasting authorities are, of course, independent of the Government in matters of programme content; but I am sure they will consider the point to which the hon. Member has drawn attention.
