§ Mr. Boyd-Carpenterasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government why the Local Government Commission is not proceeding with its review of the South-East, and has informed local authorities that it does not expect them to submit evidence in respect of new matters; what communication he has had with the Commission about this matter; whether he is satisfied that this is consistent with the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1958; what steps he proposes to take to secure longer consideration of changes in local government organisation; and if he will make a statement.
