HC Deb 09 February 1966 vol 724 cc68-9W
86. Captain W. Elliot

asked the Minister of Transport if she is aware that rush hour traffic on roads on the fringe of London has reached the same proportions as that of central London; and what are her proposals for the provision of pedestrian crossings.

Mr. Swingler

My right hon. Friend is very conscious of this problem. The responsibility for providing pedestrian crossings, except on trunk roads, rests initially with local authorities and their proposals are always most carefully considered.
