Vickers asked the Minister of Transport, in view of the refusal of Her Majesty's Government to allow the Plymouth City Corporation to have the use of Collaton Cross for an airport, if she will take action to speed up the provision for the improvement of the A.38, with special regard to the connection between Plymouth and Exeter.

This trunk route is being improved as quickly as funds allow. Eight miles of dual carriageway will be provided between Plymouth and Exeter during the next year or two, and other major schemes are programmed.
