Hillasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science in how many schools for which he has approved plans for comprehensive reorganisation the problem of the split year is likely to arise because the comprehensive annual entry does not divide evenly into the pupil capacity of the existing buildings; and how he is advising local education authorities to meet this difficulty without incurring additional expenditure.
§ Mr. CroslandI have not approved any plans for comprehensive reorganisation which involve the separation of pupils in the same age group. If I receive proposals of this character my Department will be ready to discuss with the local education authority concerned how best to overcome the difficulty.
