§ Mr. MacCollInformation from local authorities shows that there were 33,014 acres of derelict spoil heaps in England at 31st December, 1965, of which 13,682 acres or 41 per cent. were in Cornwall. Local authorities considered that 17,795 acres of these spoil heaps justified treatment, of which 1,763 acres or 10 per cent. were in Cornwall.
