HC Deb 01 December 1966 vol 737 cc126-7W
35 and 36. Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) whether he will take the opportunity of the abolition of the import surcharge to raise once more with the Norwegian Government their obligation to reduce duties on motor vehicles and components in accordance with the spirit of the Stockholm Convention;

(2) whether he has sought any assurance from Great Britain's European Free Trade Association partners that the abolition of the import surcharge will be reciprocated by discussions aimed at the removal of such revenue duties, affecting Great Britain's vehicle exports, as are contrary to the spirit of the Stockholm Convention.

Mr. Jay

We take every opportunity of pressing our views that the E.F.T.A. relationship should be reflected in the duties charged on motor vehicles.
