HC Deb 04 August 1966 vol 733 cc155-6W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why it took the Metropolitan Police 1½ hours to respond to the call made by Mr. John Garner to investigate matters connected with the finding of the murdered body of the young girl in Eton Avenue, Hampstead, on the evening of Tuesday, 26th July; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The Commissioner of Police tells me that when this matter was reported to the police they were told only that an abandoned parcel was lying in the street and there was no mention of a body; two other emergency calls were therefore dealt with first.
