§ 96. Sir Clive Bossomasked the Minister of Transport if she will list the road projects which will be postponed as a result of the recent economic changes, showing the original target starting date and the new target starting date in each case.
§ 102. Mr. Deanasked the Minister of Transport whether she will give details of the £14 million cuts in the road programme; and which West Country projects will be cut.
§ Mr. Swingler£12 million of the £14 million reduction in 1967–68 will affect expenditure on roads in England. My right hon. Friend is not postponing any road schemes as a result of the current economic measures. As she told the hon. Member for Glasgow, Cathcart (Mr. Edward M. Taylor) on 25th July, the only effect of the current measures is to reduce the extent to which we shall be making up the ground lost as a result of the 1965 deferment measures.
97. Mr. Geoffrey Wilsonasked the Minister of Transport why some of the 81 major road projects which the Government decided to postpone for six months are being postponed for longer than six months.
§ Mr. SwinglerAs indicated in my reply on 13th May given to the hon. Member for Devizes (Mr. Charles Morrison) no scheme was postponed for more than six months under the economic measures taken last year. Some schemes are starting later for reasons other than the Government's deferment measures.
