§ Mr. Frank Allaun
asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, in view of the ninefold increase in the last eight years in the concentration of strontium 90 in the bones of dead children aged about one year, if the Medical Research Council will now consider ways of examining the bones of living children to ensure that none is approaching the danger level.29W
§ Mr. Prentice
No practical method is available for the direct measurement of concentrations of strontium 90 in the bones of living children. Such concentrations can, however, be inferred from measurements of levels of dietary contamination.
