§ Mr. McBrideasked the Minister of Power if he will make a statement on the proposal to convert Tir John power station, Swansea, from coal to oil; and if he is aware of the consequences to employment in the mining industry resulting therefrom.
§ Mr. Frederick LeeThe Central Electricity Generating Board has asked me to alter the terms of the consent to the establishment of this station, which specified the use of coal, to enable it to be converted to using light oil; without such a change, the Board would have difficulty in complying with clean air legislation. I am now considering the Board's proposal and shall be consulting the National Coal Board.
