§ 92. Mr. Julius Silvermanasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether she will review the existing legislation and regulations relating to the payment of unemployment benefit, especially in relation to unemployment arising as a result of industrial disputes, and the part-time unemployment of night shift workers.
§ Miss HerbisonAs my hon. Friend will know, the Government are conducting a major review of the National Insurance scheme which will certainly involve detailed examination of the provisions which affect the payment of benefit to workers on short-time. As regards unemployment benefit for people whose unemployment is due to an industrial dispute, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on 24th May to the hon. Member for The Wrekin (Mr. William Yates) and to other hon. Members.
