§ 11. Mr. Chapmanasked the Minister of Land and Natural Resources how he proposes to evaluate conflicting considerations such as those of cheap and abundant water and amenity values for the purpose of reaching decisions about estuarial barrage schemes.
§ Mr. WilleyThe evaluation of amenity and other social considerations, as against economic considerations, is a crucial question for contemporary society, and Sir Dudley Stamp's Committee have agreed at my request to study this. I shall be taking their advice into account when, in consultation with my colleagues concerned, I consider in due course the reports of the Water Resources Board on the feasibility of the Morecambe Bay and Solway Firth barrage schemes.
