HC Deb 29 March 1965 vol 709 c170W
88. Sir A.V. Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what was the cost of his advertisement in the Daily Telegraph on 23rd March dealing with recruitment; and what was the purpose in illustrating the F111A aircraft.

Mr. Healey

The material for this advertisement, which also appeared in other newspapers, cost £300 to prepare. Its insertion in theDaily Telegraph cost £3,520. Its purpose was to attract recruits by showing the wide range of new aircraft with which they might be associated if they joined the Royal Air Force. The display would have been incomplete without a mention of the R.A.F.'s requirement for a strike and reconnaissance aircraft; the Fl11A was displayed alongside the TSR2 as a possible means of meeting this requirement.
