§ 70. Sir M. Galpernasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in view of the shortage of teachers in Scotland and the fact that there are 20,000 married women who are trained and experienced teachers but who have left teaching, he will consider offering some form of special tax relief to such persons to attract them back into teaching in Scottish schools.
§ Mr. MacDermotSpecial Income Tax reliefs—the wife's earned income allowance and a separate set of reduced rate reliefs—give a substantial inducement to194W married women to continue in, or return to, employment.
