§ Mr. CroslandYes. In future, additional allowances may be paid in cases of hardship to married students who are holders of post-graduate studentships awarded by the Education Departments or Research Councils, who have children born before or within six months of the beginning of their course and who are not at present eligible for dependants' allowances.

Vaughan-Morganasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received with regard to the hardship being undergone by students who are married and under the age at which the marriage allowance is payable to those in respect of Department of Scientific and Industrial Research grants.
§ Mr. CroslandRepresentations have been received during the last six months from the Association of Scientific Workers and the National Union of Students. There have also been representations from or on behalf of a few individual students.
