§ Mrs. Anne Kerrasked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what long-term plans he is making for the redeployment of workers in the defence industries so that these workers may be assured that, as 232W and when the arms burden is lifted, their skills will continue to be fully utilised.
§ Mr. FoleyMy hon. Friend is aware of what we are doing in regard to the aircraft industry where we now see an opportunity of providing for our defence needs with less direct strain on our own productive resources. She can be assured that if the arms burden as a whole could be lessened in the foreseeable future we would have no difficulty in redeploying both men and materials to augment our standard of living.
