Mr. Brookeasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the present tax revenue derived from the profits of companies operating in this country which are subsidiaries of foreign companies; and how much of this revenue he estimates will be lost to the United Kingdom Exchequer through these subsidiaries, in the light of the company tax provisions of the Finance Bill, being converted into branches of the parent company.
§ Mr. MacDermotThe answer to the first part of the Question is something in the region of £150 million. The answer to the second part is that no useful estimate can be made.
