Mr. Kimballasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied that false declarations are not being made in order to obtain export licences for ponies from Great Yarmouth to Holland; and if he will make a statement about the irregularity disclosed there on Wednesday, 19th May.
§ Mr. John MackieI am satisfied that in general the particulars of horses and ponies given in applications for exemption from veterinary examination are correct and relate to the animals intended for export at the time of application. On 19th May, however, one of a batch of animals presented for export at Great Yarmouth was not covered by the permit held by the exporter, and was accordingly not shipped.
