§ Mr. Mathewasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what action he will take, in view of the increase in the use of plastic piping, which is a non-conductor of electricity, to prevent danger arising from the use of unsuitable water piping as earthing for electrical appliances.
§ Mr. MacCollAction has already been taken by the Department and the Ministry of Power as a result of which, when plastic pipes are installed by water undertakers, the electricity boards are informed and can therefore give their consumers any necessary help where earthing may have been impaired. Builders and plumbers have been warned, by electricity boards and water undertakers and through the technical Press, not to install plastic piping without making sure that electrical earthing is not affected.
