§ Mr. Murray
asked the Minister of Land and Natural Resources whether he is aware of the need to preserve mature trees in South-East England; and what additional action he will take in this matter.
§ Mr. Willey
I am acutely conscious of the importance of preserving mature trees18W where their loss would endanger the amenities, and not only in South-East England. I am at present studying the machinery for the making of Tree Preservation Orders and the arrangements made by the Forestry Commission under the Forestry Act, 1951, and at the appropriate time discussions will be held with the interests concerned.
