§ Mr. MacArthurasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if all the four regional studies started by the last Administration have now been completed; and if he will now put them in a form suitable for publication and publish them;
(2) how many meetings have been held by the special committee of the Economic Planning Council considering the regional studies; what conclusions have been reached; and when proposals for future policy will be announced.
§ Mr. RossThese studies, which were taken over by the Scottish Economic Planning Board on its inception at the beginning of 1965, have still to be correlated with one another and with a review of the situation in Central Scotland. With the assistance of the Scottish Economic Planning Council and of the Highlands and Islands Development Board when it is set up, plans will then be prepared for the economic development of the areas covered by the studies within the framework of the forthcoming National Plan. These plans will be published, I hope before the end of 1965.
