HC Deb 07 July 1965 vol 715 c226W
68. Mr. Garrow

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, to prevent embarrassment and worry by patients and relatives, he will issue a general direction to regional hospital boards to make provision to retain the outdoor clothing of patients, particularly those from rural areas, in safe keeping by the hospital to which they are admitted, for use when discharged.

Mr. Ross

I am afraid that a general direction would be impracticable because of storage difficulties in existing hospitals. But my Department in its guidance on design of new hospitals has included provision for both day and outdoor clothing within ward areas.
