§ 46. Mr. Wingfield Digbyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what consideration has now been 114W given to the work of the National Council for Oceanography; and what co-ordination has been established under the Natural Environment Research Council.
§ Mr. CroslandThe Natural Environment Research Council, at its inaugural meeting yesterday, set up a committee specially charged with the promotion and co-ordination of research in Oceanography and related subjects. It will be responsible for the work of the National Institute of Oceanography and of the Marine and Freshwater Biological Laboratories grant-aided by N.E.R.C. It will also ensure co-ordination with the Ministry of Defence and the Departmental Fisheries Laboratories in the field of oceanography.
