§ Mr. Owenasked the Prime Minister whether he will propose to the Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia that an all-party Parliamentary delegation should visit Rhodesia and report to Parliament.
§ The Prime MinisterAs it had not proved possible to arrange for Ministerial talks, I had already proposed a Parliamentary Delegation to the Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia as an alternative method of finding a way forward. I suggested that a small all-party Mission consisting of senior and experienced members of the British Parliament might visit Rhodesia to acquaint 129W themselves with the situation at first hand. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith does not feel that this would serve a useful purpose.
