§ The Prime MinisterThe answer to the first part of the Question is the branch of the Department of Education and Science concerned with policy in regard to atomic energy and a small section of the Ministry of Aviation responsible for sponsorship of the electronics industry. The greater part of the existing Headquarters of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, together with most of its stations, and the branch of the Board of Trade concerned with policy in regard to the National Research Development Corporation will, however, be transferred to the Ministry of Technology when the necessary legislation and Statutory Instrument take effect.
In all, the staff involved will number rather more than 5,000, including industrial workers.
