36. Earl of Dalkeithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress is being made to implement the plans to provide water from Loch Lomond to the East of Scotland; and whether he will give an estimate of the dates for starting and completing the scheme.
§ Dr. MabonI understand that a draft of the empowering Order is now being considered by the individual authoritities concerned. A start will be made on constructing the scheme as soon as the necessary powers have been obtained. It is estimated that the works will take 2½ to three years to construct.
