HC Deb 24 February 1965 vol 707 cc124-5W
Mr. Carol Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many meetings have been held of the Departmental Committee inquiring into the working of the Cruelty to Animals Act 1876; when the last meeting was held; and when he expects to receive its Report.

Sir F. Soskice

The Committee on Experiments on Animals has held 27 meetings. It last met on 19th February. I have received its Report today and I am arranging for it to be published as soon as possible.

I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my gratitude to Sir Sydney Littlewood and his colleagues for the very valuable public service they have rendered in reviewing the working of the Act.
