§ Mr. Solomonsasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether a decision has yet been reached on the provision of television for the forces in Germany.
§ Mr. MulleyA long and exhaustive examination has been made into the possibility of providing a television service for the forces in Germany. We have considered a number of schemes, and in our studies have received a great deal of help from the German authorities. It is, however, clear that any scheme to provide satisfactory television programmes for a substantial proportion of the forces in Germany would be extremely expen-160W sive, and I do not think that at the present time it would be right to give the provision of television in B.A.O.R. priority over other welfare and entertainment facilities required in stations throughout the world. We will, however, keep the matter under review.
