74. Mr. Buchan

asked the Lord President of the Council if, in the interests of historical accuracy, he will ensure that in any arrangements made by the Government for the forthcoming Parliamentary celebration it is made clear that the occasion commemorates an earlier Parliamentary institution and not the present Parliamentary institution which started in 1707.

Mr. Bowden

It has been, and will be, made clear that the celebrations are in connection with the 700th Anniversary of Simon de Montfort's Parliament.
