HC Deb 08 February 1965 vol 706 cc11-2W
41. Mr. Fisher

asked the Minister of Health how much of the corned beef withdrawn during last year's typhoid outbreak has been retained in store and subsequently released for sale; and why this was done.

48. Mr. R. W. Elliott

asked the Minister of Health if he is satisfied that the regulations controlling impounded foodstuffs are functioning satisfactorily; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. K. Robinson

I have no reason to suppose that the statutory and voluntary measures for controlling withdrawn foodstuffs are not working well, particularly as I now understand that there is no firm evidence that any of the suspect canned meat has been released for sale.

Precise information about the total quantity withdrawn is not needed for public health purposes and is not available.
