HC Deb 04 February 1965 vol 705 c310W
71. Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will seek to amend the Street Offences Act, 1959, so that it will be an offence for any person in any street or public place persistently to importune for immoral purposes.

Miss Bacon

The effect of Section 1 of the Street Offences Act, 1959, and Section 32 of the Sexual Offences Act, 1956, is that persistent importuning in public is already an offence in the case of both prostitutes and men. My right hon. Friend has no proposals for amending legislation on this subject.
