Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Defence, in view of the large decrease in the number of Her Majesty's Forces in the last few years, how much land previously held for military purposes has been released in the past five years; and what proposals he has for releasing land at present held for military purposes.
§ Mr. ReynoldsSince 1st April, 1959, 194,000 acres. The amount of land required for defence purposes is and will remain under continual review, and a further 67,500 acres are at present in varying stages of disposal.
