§ 58. Mr. Woodburnasked the Minister of Labour what plans he has for the re-employment of the 342 workers rendered redundant by the closing of the Imperial Chemical Industries factory at West Quarter, Stirlingshire.
§ Mr. MarshI understand that no redundancy has yet taken place at this 205W factory, but it has been made known that production is to start running down in March and will cease by the end of the year. The company has said that it will be prepared to offer alternative employment to some workers willing to transfer to Ardeer, Ayrshire. Our local officers are in close touch with the management and will arrange for the advance registration of the workers at the factory as soon as details of the redundancies are known. Every assistance will be given to all those who need our help in finding other jobs.
