§ Mr. Mawbyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the amount of the effective cut in expenditure on housing, schools, hospitals, roads, and telephones, respectively, as the result of his announcement of July, 1965.
§ Mr. DiamondExpenditure on housing, schools and hospitals was exempted from the deferment of expenditure announced by the Chancellor on 27th July, 1965. Operational telephone expenditure was also exempted. It is estimated that deferment will lead to a reduction in 1965–66 of about £8½ million in Great Britain on roadways, trunk roads and classified roads, and about £½million on non-operational telephone expenditure.
