§ 53. Mr. Michael Footasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what was the most recent occasion on which he had consultations with U Thant about the possibility of achieving peace in Vietnam.
§ Mr. George ThomsonWhen the Secretary-General visited London last July my right hon. Friend held detailed discussions on Vietnam and since then we have had further confidential exchanges with the Secretary-General. We are both well aware of the other's views, but unhappily there have been no new developments which would have made it useful to hold fresh talks in recent months.
