§ Mr. Randallasked the Minister of Labour what is the percentage of days lost through stoppages of work due to industrial disputes in the United Kingdom; 208W and what information he has about how this compares with other major industrial countries.
§ Mr. GunterOn the first part of the question I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Newark (Mr. Bishop) on 6th December, 1965. Percentage figures are not available for other major industrial countries, but figures are published by the International Labour Office showing the number of days lost in a number of countries through industrial disputes per thousand persons employed in the mining, manufacturing, construction and transport industries. The latest figures, covering the period 1955 to 1964, appeared in the October, 1965, issue of the Ministry of Labour Gazette.
