§ 117. Mr. Randallasked the Postmaster-General if he will make a statement on the action to be taken in the design of new post offices to assist people in wheel-chairs and others who find steps difficult to negotiate; and what action is planned for existing buildings.
§ Mr. BennOur aim will be to provide a level approach for entering and leaving the post office, or, where that is impracticable, a shallow ramp. Where steps are essential they will be straight, broad and shallow, and a handrail will be provided. Also, as existing buildings come to be modernised, we will do what we can to make things easier for disabled people.
