§ 47. Mr. Bradleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will issue a circular to chief constables as to the action of police officers when they are requested to assist in the detention of a mental patient and as to whether they should be authorised to take such a person to prison instead of to hospital.
§ Mr. George ThomasMy right hon. and learned Friend has no reason to believe that the police require any further general guidance as to their responsibilities for the detention of mental patients. If my hon. Friend has some particular point in mind, I shall be glad to consider it.
