Mr. Simon Mahonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is aware of the action recently taken by the Lancashire Education Authority in connection with the education of divinity students; and if he will encourage education authorities to take similar action to assist such students.
§ Mr. CroslandI am aware of the action to which my hon. Friend draws attention, which is within the local education authority's discretion under the arrangements referred to in the reply I gave him on 4th May last. I do not consider that any further approach by me to local education authorities on this subject would be appropriate.
