Mr. MacArthur

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what stage of planning has been reached for the various sections of the new trunk road from Crossgates to Perth; and whether these plans will be delayed by the recent economic measures.

An objection to the Special Road Scheme for the Cowdenbeath bypass has still to be resolved before the Scheme can be made and before the next Scheme, for the section to Arlary, can be

analysing the figure to show the number of graduates in each rank in each police force.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has for increasing the number of graduates in the police forces of Scotland.

Mr. Ross

I intend to consult the Police Advisory Board for Scotland on how to attract more university graduates into the service and on the possibilities of a scheme to give university training to serving police officers.
