HC Deb 02 August 1965 vol 717 c209W
Mrs. Shirley Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what request Her Majesty's Government have received to take action on Security Council Resolution S/5773 of 18th June, 1964, inviting the Secretary-General, in consultation with appropriate United Nations specialised agencies, to establish an educational and training programme abroad for South Africans.

Mr. George Thomson

In response to an appeal by the Secretary-General, Her Majesty's Government have offered a contribution of £25,000 towards such a programme. Parliament will in due course be asked to vote that amount by means of a Supplementary Estimate. In the meantime an advance will be obtained from the Civil Contingencies Fund. It is understood that the Governments of the United States, Denmark, Sweden and Norway have made similar contributions to the programme.
