§ 97. Mr. Shepherdasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of the successful defence against a speeding prosecution on the grounds that the police radar apparatus was not being properly used; and whether, in view of the penalty now imposed for three speeding offences in three years, he will give consideration to recommending the use of the continental barograph principle, which involves photographing the vehicle as well as registering its speed.
§ Mr. George ThomasMy right hon. and learned Friend is not aware of any grounds for taking out of use the standard type of radar speed meter which has been satisfactorily in use for some years. It must be for the courts to decide on the adequacy of the evidence in individual cases.
