HC Deb 28 April 1965 vol 711 c45W
31. Mr. Bessell

asked the Minister of Transport, in view of British Rail's plans, outlined in Map No. 21 of Development of the Major Railway Trunk Routes, what consideration he has given to the proposal to close the main railway line between Plymouth and Penzance or discontinue the passenger services on this line; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Tom Fraser

The Railways Board has made no proposal to withdraw the passenger services from, or to close, the line between Plymouth and Penzance. It has pointed out that the purpose of its studies has been to select routes for future intensive use, not to select lines for closure.
