§ Mr. PadleyThe purposes of the proposed Institute are to train personnel, particularly from the developing States, for administrative and operational work both with the United Nations and the Specialised Agencies and for government service in their own countries; and to conduct research into the operations of the United Nations and the Specialised Agencies, especially in the fields of economic and social development and the maintenance of peace and security.
The first meeting of the Board of Trustees has only just taken place and 251W it is too early to predict what effect the establishment of the Institute will have on the work of the United Nations.
