§ Mr. Peytonasked the Minister of Power, in view of Her Majesty's Government's policy that the recently announced measures to help the coal industry should maintain the market at a level of between 4 and 7 million tons higher than it would otherwise have been, how much of that additional quantity will be used by the electricity and gas industries, respectively, during a period of one year.
§ Mr. Frederick LeeAs discussions are still going on between the Coal Board and the gas and electricity industries, I cannot give an apportionment of the additional consumption. But electricity, which is coal's largest single customer, will make the main contribution.
