§ Mr. Tom FraserThe Road Research Laboratory is carrying out a study with the aid of material derived from its own accident investigations and those of 201W others, into the relationship between eyesight and driving. I hope this will provide useful information on the extent to which eyesight defects cause or contribute to accidents.
§ Mr. Awdryasked the Minister of Transport whether he will seek to require the periodic certification of the necessary standard of eyesight of applicants for driving licences.
§ Mr. Tom FraserNo. There is as yet no evidence that such a requirement would reduce road accidents.
