HC Deb 14 April 1965 vol 710 cc204-5W
54. Mr. loan L. Evans

asked the Minister of Transport what railway lines in the Birmingham district were closed to passenger traffic in 1963 and 1964, respectively; and what lines are proposed for closure in 1965.

Mr. Tom Fraser

No closures took place in 1963. The passenger services between Birmingham (Snow Hill) and Dudley, and between Dudley and Old Hill, were closed in 1964, and those between Birmingham (New Street) and Walsall via Penns in January, 1965. Proposals for the closure of local passenger services between New Street and the following towns—Redditch and Worcester; Leicester and Nottingham; and Tam-worth and Derby—are also at various stages of the statutory procedure.
