HC Deb 12 April 1965 vol 710 cc135-6W
Mr. Box

asked the Minister of Power whether he will publish national statistics showing the number of National Coal Board surface or underground workers who were absent through sickness or injury for one week or more, the number for three weeks or more, the number of individual employees who have been absent through sickness or injury on more than one occasion each year and the number of occasions individual employees have been absent through sickness or injury, respectively, in each of the year since nationalisation, and for the latest period available.

Mr. John Morris

The latest information about involuntary absence (due to sickness or injury or other authorised absence) is as follows:

Involuntary Absence Total Percentage Underground Workers
1964 (Year) 10.12 10.45
1965 (13 weeks only) 11.63 11.79

The figures for earlier years are published in Tables 16 and 18 of the Ministry of Power Statistical Digest, 1963. I regret the further detail requested by the hon. Member is not available.
